I first saw Sam Neill in 1981, when my best friend and I went to see The Final Conflict at our local movie theatre. We thought the man playing Damien was incredibly good-looking. We actually cheered for Damien (the Antichrist) throughout the entire movie, which should tell you just how seriously we took that film. I didn't think of Sam again until February of 1987 when I saw the Amerika mini-series on television. That was when Sam Neill became my absolute favorite actor. After seeing him in Amerika, I searched all the video stores in my small college town and got my hands on many of his earlier films such as Sleeping Dogs, My Brilliant Career and Attack Force Z. Then after seeing him in a television movie called Leap of Faith in 1988, I managed to track down his agent's name and address and wrote Sam a really pathetic gushy fan letter. I still cringe to think of what I might have said in that thing. I also made the 70+ mile trip to the next biggest city to see him in A Cry in the Dark and Dead Calm. I've now seen over 90 of his films/television projects and while it would be impossible to pick a favorite, the Amerika mini-series still holds a special place in my heart. Over the years I have been lucky enough to get my hands on numerous items relating to Sam, including books, movie programs, magazines, glossy photos, etc. This web page is my way of sharing some of it with other Sam Neill fans.
